Novena to the Sacred Heart

Reflections Library

We're delighted that you are joining us on this virtual pilgrimage. From June 3 - 11, a new reflection will be published each day. A full list of the published reflections will appear below. Scroll past this collection to see a map of the featured mosaics, which will also update as the novena progresses.

Day One: The Central Dome

There is, paradoxically, consolation in the cross. We can look to the cross and know for certain that God is with us, even in our suffering.

Day Two: The Blessed Sacrament Chapel

Our Lord is here, right now, in this chapel. He is inviting us to spend time with Him. He is inviting us into His love.

Day Three: Two Drinking Deer

"As a deer longs for flowing streams, so my soul longs for you, O God." Nothing else, the psalmist warns, will satisfy.

Day Four: The Beatitudes

It is impossible to overstate how radical the Beatitudes are—how contrary God’s ways are to the ways of the world.

Day Five: Dome of Local History

Despite great darkness, God has shown time and time again that He does not abandon His people.

Featured Mosaics

Every corner of the Cathedral Basilcia of Saint Louis proclaims Chirst. As we prepare to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of our Archdiocese, we are taking a closer look at some the mosaics that celebrate the role that St. Louis has played in spreading the Gospel--and the urgent work to which God still calls His people!

Let us pray . . .

O my Jesus, you have said, “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you.” You know the deepest longings of my heart. You know the burdens that I carry. Behold, I come before You now, asking only this: make me a saint.

In the midst of sanctifying trials, heed not my complaints, but remind me of eternity with You and give me courage. I give You my life, that every good gift You have given me be rendered back to You—for Your glory, for my sanctity, and for the good of Your Holy Church.

Thank you for the saints who built Your Church in St. Louis—those we know and honor, and those whose lives remain hidden in You. Transform our hearts, that we who have been entrusted to this Archdiocese, may one day merit to join them.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, we place our trust in you!
